China Materials Conference 2024 and the 2nd World Materials Conference held in Guangzhou.
From July 8 to 11, 2024, the China Materials Conference 2024 and the Second World Materials Conference, hosted by the China Materials Research Society, opened grandly in Guangzhou. Nearly 100 academicians and more than 25,000 material science and technology workers attended the conference. This conference was held against the backdrop of the National Science and Technology Conference, the National Science and Technology Awards Conference, and the two academies of academicians conferences, and the whole country has just concluded the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and comprehensively promoted high-level scientific and technological self-reliance. It is an interdisciplinary, cross-field, and cross-industry academic exchange conference in the field of new materials. It is a national brand conference with more than 10,000 people in the field of new materials in China, with the highest academic level, the widest range of fields, and the latest cutting-edge dynamics.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Academician Li Yuanyuan, President of the Chinese Materials Research Society, and speeches were delivered by Academician Wei Bingbo, President of the Chinese Materials Research Society, Professor Gao Ruiping, former Deputy Director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and relevant leaders of Guangdong Province. At this conference, high-performance copper alloy experts Li Shaolin and Shi Ronghao participated in the thermal-dynamics session on structural materials hosted by the Rapid Solidification and Metastable Materials Team of Northwestern Polytechnical University and gave academic reports and introduced to the participants Their research results and application prospects in related fields. Li Shaolin gave an invited report entitled "The influence of trace amounts of rare earth Y on the structural properties of copper rod blanks and their microfilaments", revealing the mechanism of the influence of rare earth Y on the changes in the mechanical properties of single crystal copper processing lines. Under high strains, with the interaction between micro/nano phases and dislocations, a "self-annealing" phenomenon occurs, recrystallization occurs in areas with larger strains, and the overall elongation increases. Shi Ronghao gave an oral report titled "Microscopic Mechanism of Plastic Work-Heat Conversion of Copper", showing that specific crystal defects will generate heat corresponding to changes in their lattice structure. The results revealed the influence of defect type, propagation path, and density on plastic heat. , providing a nanoscale explanation for the temperature rise time lag phenomenon. |
